PATHOLOGY: Bilateral Above Knee Amputee

Jerry DeVaul

Sgt Jerry DeVaul served for eight years in the US Army as a vehicle mechanic. In October 2011, while working in a mine, Jerry was hit from behind by a large machine, immediately amputating him below the knees. He ultimately became a bilateral above knee amputee as a result of nerve and muscle damage.

Since his injury, Jerry has discovered sled hockey. He actively competes in the top US league with hopes of reaching his peak as an athlete. While at ATF, Jerry is excited to improve his training techniques and gain better knowledge of recovery techniques.
