PATHOLOGY: Right Arm Trauma
On October 23rd, 2011, while on patrol in Afghanistan, SGT John Reid was shot in his dominant arm while serving as a Squad Leader with the 2nd Battalion 4th Marines. The bullet traveled through his arm and shattered all the bones. After several surgeries, he was left with plates and screws and is missing his radial head. Although his arm is able to function properly, his movements have been restricted.
John was introduced to Sled Hockey in 2017 and is a part of the Colorado Avalanche adaptive team that competes across the country. His goal is to play for as long as his body will let him. Additionally, he is a physical educator and wants to take what he’s learned to better the elementary aged kids he mentors.
