PATHOLOGY: Moyamoya disease
My Name is Katrina Evans I am 29 years old, married to my best friend, and a dog mom. Diagnosed with a rare progressive brain condition, Moya Moya disease, at the age of 15. Since approximately the age of 12 I have been suffering strokes, some small, others large, at least two major bleeds are known. Leaving my mobility compromised, and the left side of my body completely paralyzed. After losing my mother to the same disorder, unknown at the time, only to be diagnosed myself a few short years after her death. Undergoing a total of 6 brain surgeries to correct my vascular issues, the stenosis has been bypassed on both sides, many artificial pieces, and parts later. I have taken two first breaths, two first steps, among many other multiple firsts in my short lifetime. After finding out I cannot carry a biological child in 2017. I decided start living for me and doing everything to get the strongest possible, in hopes to adopt a child with my husband. Stroke free since 2011, I choose not to think of myself as incomplete, but rather, bionic. My fight isn’t over I am ready to prove the statistics wrong. Its Go time!
