PATHOLOGY: Bilateral Below Knee Amputee
Hailing from Long Beach, California, Paul "PK" Kent grew up in the water - surfing, swimming, diving - anything ocean-related was family tradition and pure joy.
For over a decade, a progressive genetic neuropathy slowly stole strength and threatened his life. Rather than wait for the disease to win, PK took control: he joined a cutting-edge surgical research study and proactively chose bilateral amputation in December 2020 to reclaim his future. The decision was bold, and the result has been nothing short of liberating. Free from the chronic deterioration, PK’s mind and spirit have soared.
A lifelong water athlete, he returned to competition almost immediately. Now entering the Adaptive Training Foundation’s Hyper program at age 62, PK is hungry for elite coaching, stronger training partners, and the fire of a competitive community. His goal is simple: dominate his age group, prove that age and amputation are just numbers, and keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
