Growing up around the snow, she excelled quickly and was soon taking bigger risks and sending challenging jumps.    During a snowboarding trip, Shelby was doing her thing going down some runs and decided to take a big jump, something she had done many times before. She lost control of her body in the air and landed on her back, breaking her spine and sternum, paralyzing her instantly.   After her injury, Shelby found the High Fives Foundation, a group founded by ATF Alum Roy Tuscany that supports athletes injured in adventure sports.
