Bruce Cooper

Bruce grew up in Boise, Idaho where he enjoyed cycling, archery, and hiking. After graduating high school, Bruce joined the Army and served on multiple deployments including Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. While clearing an Iraqi aircraft hangar in 2003, he was exposed to Sarin gas. In 2006, Bruce’s convoy was attacked and hit by multiple remote-detonated IEDs. His vehicle went off a bridge and hit a wall at 40 miles per hour. The incident left him with multiple TBIs and injuries to his brain stem, C2-C3, C6-C7, ankle, and shoulder.

Bruce’s goal is to help his veteran brothers and sisters reengage in life through the outdoors. He wants to stay physically active for as long as possible and find ways to stay focused on what he is doing and why he is doing it. He plans to compete in a sprint triathlon and wants to use his experience in Hyper to help him achieve that goal.
