PATHOLOGY: Bilateral Above Knee Amputee
Growing up in Dallas, TX, Jackson loved spending time outdoors and played both basketball and golf. He especially liked golf because it gave him the opportunity to compete against himself. Jackson graduated from high school in June 2021 and went off to college at Arizona State University last fall.
On December 12th, 2021, Jackson was the passenger in a high-speed single car accident. Upon impact of the crash, both of his legs were severed above the knee and the car caught fire. 20% of his body suffered second and third degree burns before his best friend rushed toward the car and pulled Jackson to safety. At the hospital, the doctors also discovered that he has a Brachial Plexus Injury, limiting the use of his left arm.
Now as a bilateral above knee amputee, Jackson is working towards becoming a full-time prosthetics user and “getting back on his feet” as soon as possible. Through his time at ATF, Jackson is hoping to see how far he can push himself, take steps to become independent, and return to school again.
