Nico Calabria

Nico was born without his entire right leg and part of his pelvis. He started walking on prosthetics, but by the age of five, opted to use forearm crutches full-time for the increased mobility it gave him. The ability to be active was an avenue that has opened many doors for him.

From a young age, Nico developed into a natural talent for soccer. By the age of 16, he was competing as an adult on the US Amputee Soccer team and he’s been a captain of the team for the past two world champions, since he was 20 years old. This October, the team competes in the World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.

This year, Nico has decided to take a break from teaching to pursue being an athlete at the highest level, preparing for the World Championships this fall. The timing for his participation in Hyper is optimal as he hopes to be in peak shape. He will also be a force multiplier for his teammates as he improves in all aspects of being an elite athlete.
