Tyler suffered a near-death ski crash on May 27, 2017. After hitting wet snow and losing control, he collided with rocks and hit a tree full force at his shoulders and head. Ultimately his helmet saved his life. Amongst other injuries, Tyler was diagnosed with Brachial Plexus Avulsion,  his nerve roots ripped from his spinal cord.

He was unsure if skiing would ever be in the cards for him again, but has made his way back into the sport as a High Fives and NAC Athlete. Now Tyler is competing and ready to push the envelope. His goal is to make the Paralympics for Beijing 2022.

At Hyper, Tyler wants to balance testing his limits while keeping his severe nerve pain in check. His goal is to be at the top of his game for next ski season. Long-term, Tyler wants to have longevity in both skiing as well as bicycling.
