Brian Vines

Brian Vines is a native of New Caney, TX and spent his youth hunting, fishing, and playing football in true small town Texas fashion. He graduated high school in 1980 where he then went on to pursue a bachelors degree in history. After graduating Brian was commissioned into the United States Army where he spent an incredible 28 years serving his country.

Brian began as an infantry soldier before completing assessment and selection to become a Special Forces Operator where he participated in multiple deployments throughout the Middle East and Asia. He participated in combat deployments in support of operation Desert Storm as well as two combat deployments to Iraq.

Brian sustained numerous injuries throughout his career, however during an operation in Iraq in 2009 he suffered a hard landing in a helicopter that caused an injury to his lower lumbar and spine. His neck and lower back were damaged, severely limiting his movement and ability to operate. He made the decision to retire from the Army in 2012.

After his time in the military, Brian spent time caring for his wife Natalie, an ATF alumni of Class 26, and fellow Army veteran. He hopes to use his time at ATF to develop the same healthy habits and routine that Natalie found during her time here. He aims to improve his physical and mental strength so that he can be outdoors again and adventure with his wife.
