Meet Adaptive Athlete: Clinton Adger

PO2 Clinton Adger, US Navy, Ret.

DOB: July 22nd, 1981

DOI: July 5th, 2021

PATHOLOGY: Thoracic Spinal Cord Injury

Class27HeadshotsWIDE-7

Growing up in Dallas, TX, Clinton enjoyed participating in both track and field and weightlifting. He graduated high school and went on to pursue a career in the Navy. During his service, he was deployed almost the entire time for sea duty, where provided briefs for Admirals, pilots, and flight crews.

In 2021, after experiencing chest pains, it was recommended that he get an MRI. On the way to the emergency room, his pain began increasing and when he got there, it was unbearable. He stayed overnight and the next morning he couldn’t feel his legs and was later diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma with Spinal Cord Compression.

His recovery journey has been a mix of adjusting to not having use of his legs and finding joy in the daily wins and personal achievements. Although he’s been in a wheelchair, he is finding ways to stand and regain movement and function in his legs.

Since his injury, he has been wanting to decrease his dependence on medication and is looking forward to doing so in a healthy and holistic way. Additionally he is seeking strength, both physically to assist him with standing and walking, but also strength to overcome mental battles that he faces.
