PATHOLOGY: Above Knee Amputee
David grew up in San Angelo, Texas and enlisted in the Army in March of 2000 where he served for four years as an infantry soldier.
David was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was riding in a vehicle in 2003 when an armor penetrating RPG struck the side of his vehicle, impacting and shattering his right femur. He was transported to the field hospital where they amputated his leg instantly.
After his separation from the Army, David lost his motivation and believes that for 18 years after his injury he intentionally neglected himself in order to die slowly. He wants to work on training and learn new ways to train in order to better his mental health and his fitness journeys.
