Destini Dodd

Destini Dodd grew up surrounded by the energy and community of cheer and dance. She loved the movement, the fun and, most importantly, the people who came with it. Those experiences gave her a strong sense of connection, something she hopes to find again as she continues rebuilding her life.

In October 2023, Destini was out with family and friends when a fight broke out nearby and gunfire erupted. She was struck by a stray bullet, an event that completely changed the direction of her life. In the aftermath, she and her family lost everything they owned and were forced to move to a new city, leaving Destini to rebuild nearly every part of her life at once. The physical recovery has been difficult, but the mental battle has often been just as challenging. She describes each day as a fight to get up, keep moving and find her way forward.

Through it all, Destini has held onto her faith and a desire to live fully again. She knows that since her injury, she has started automatically limiting herself, talking herself out of things before she even tries. She is ready to break that habit. Her goal is to become stronger, improve her core and build the physical foundation she needs to eventually get back on her feet.

More than physical progress, Destini wants to reclaim her confidence and her joy. She wants to reconnect with community, socialize, help others and stop allowing her injury to define what she believes she can do. ReDefine is an opportunity to challenge those limits and remind herself that there is still a whole life ahead of her, one worth fighting for.
