PATHOLOGY: Trauma
Gabby grew up in Leesburg, Georgia, where she pursued her passion for healthcare, earning her CNA in high school with the dream of helping others. Though she wasn’t focused on athletics growing up, she began preparing physically once she enlisted in the Navy.
In 2019, while stationed at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Gabby endured trauma and sustained severe hip injuries while running. A year later, she faced a serious bone infection in her foot and ankle, adding to the physical and emotional toll. Despite years of treatment, therapy, and surgeries, the combined challenges of chronic pain and PTSD led to her medical retirement in 2023. Over time, she’s found strength in fitness, treatment, and reconnecting socially.
As a Hospital Corpsman at Walter Reed, Gabby supported high-profile patients, gave COVID-19 vaccines, including to President Obama, and worked closely with wounded warriors and their families. Through adaptive sports, she hopes to continue building confidence, overcoming anxiety triggers, and creating a stronger, healthier, and happier future.
