PATHOLOGY: Traumatic Brain Injury & Multiple Sclerosis
Greg is a local of Rowlett, Texas and found success in sport at an early age through bowling, baseball, and football. He played baseball at a high level in high school then went on to play college football at Texas A&M- Commerce.
After college, Greg enlisted in the United States Army where he served dutifully for four years as an infantry team leader, deploying to Iraq in 2010 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During that deployment he suffered a traumatic brain injury that led to lesions along his brain discovered later on.
After his retirement and up until recently, Greg had experienced various illnesses leading to hospitalizations as well as tremors to the point that he could not walk. After months of testing, doctors finally diagnosed Greg with multiple sclerosis, putting an end to the confusion and providing sort of an “aha moment” as Greg puts it.
Following his diagnosis, Greg became extremely discouraged at the thought of never walking again and being weak which led him to make the decision to get in the gym and prove everyone wrong. After nine months in his chair, Greg was able to walk again and now has the ability to participate in sports. Greg hopes to compound on his new strength during his time at ATF and get stronger and more mobile so he can continue to pursue adaptive sports.
