PATHOLOGY: Above Knee Amputee
Guillermo “Will” Castillo grew up in Queens, New York, playing basketball, soccer and handball. Athletics have always been a part of his life, and today he is focused on rebuilding the strength and speed that will allow him to push himself physically again.
While serving in Iraq, Guillermo sustained injuries from a bomb blast. The years that followed brought significant mental and emotional challenges, including survivor’s guilt and a suicide attempt in 2013. His faith became an important part of finding his way forward.
Now, Guillermo wants to get stronger, faster and more capable physically. Just as importantly, he wants to take what he has learned through his own experiences and use it to help others facing similar challenges. At Hyper, he is looking for the training, community and accountability to keep moving forward and become someone who can pass those lessons on.
