Injury: Hip Disarticulation
Jamie grew up in Amarillo and Omaha Nebraska. Currently she and her husband live in Carrollton. She has 3 sons, and most recently a grandson.
Jamie was born with a birth defect that left her with a missing leg at the hip (hip-disarticulation). She had a small foot attached to the hip, but it was removed to make wearing prosthetics easier.
As a young girl she was always active, participating in gymnastics, snow skiing, biking, swimming, camping, hiking, and just about anything she wanted to do. Now as an adult she does the same things except she has added scuba diving, traveling, and kayaking.
Jamie said one of her goals would be to participate in some competitions in the para or normal world. She also wants to get into the best shape of her life and learn how to maintain it, so she can follow her dream of working with adaptive athletes in the future after she receives her CPT. The ATF gym has opened her eyes to the ""adaptive"" world that she never knew existed, so she is still soaking it all in, learning and creating new goals along the way.
