Jonathan Carlin is a local from Irving, Texas and a veteran of the United States Army. As a boy, he was involved in boxing, taekwondo, Boy Scouts, and also worked on automobiles. After graduating college, he enlisted in the Army where he served for four years.
He was deployed to Kuwait and then participated in the Invasion of Iraq in 2003 where he saw heavy combat throughout the duration of this deployment. Jonathan participated in Army sniper school in 2004 where he sustained a torn disc in his lumbar spine during training. The resulting trauma left him with a herniation of the left cervical spine and a left shoulder separation. He was medically retired in 2005, at the rank of Sergeant.
While at ATF, Jonathan wants to learn how to implement a responsible fitness routine into his life as well as address some of the mental and emotional challenges he is currently facing alongside his PTSD. He hopes to build good physical habits, strengthen his core, and to learn how to modulate himself. After his time at ATF, he wants to pursue his passions of hiking and climbing.
