PATHOLOGY: Below Knee Amputee
MSgt Justin James is currently in his 24th year of service in the US Air Force. He broke his ankle and required surgery, but complications from the procedure put him on a seven year path of limb salvage before he opted to have his left leg amputated below the knee.
Since losing his leg, Justin has been involved in many sports including discus (track and field), archery, swimming, and sitting volleyball with the goal of representing the US at the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024. His hope is to use his time at ATF to prepare himself to be in the best position to succeed. He is also competing in the Invictus Games later in 2023.
