SrA Kenneth Hernandez, US Air Force, Ret. is a New York native and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. He was active growing up, playing baseball, basketball, and football, and also enjoyed listening to old school hip hop. Kenneth graduated from high school in 1996 before enlisting in the military. He served for six years in the US Air Force before retiring to join the New Jersey PD as a Port Authority Police Officer.

During his 10th year with the police department, Kenneth was involved in a car accident. In the early morning hours of January 25th, 2014, his life was saved by an off-duty EMT who pulled Kenneth to safety from the burning car. The crash impacted Kenneth’s spine, resulting in paralysis from the chest down along with a brachial plexus injury to his right arm.

Through the tough times following his accident, Kenneth’s family has been a motivating factor in his recovery. He’s turned to fitness as a way to cope and continually progress. During his time at ATF, Kenneth wants to better his techniques as a wheelchair crossfit athlete with the goal of competing in the Wheelchair Games.
