PATHOLOGY: Traumatic Brain Injury
Kevin Dorrell grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, where he spent his free time playing paintball and video games before joining the Army. He served as a 68W Combat Medic and deployed twice to Iraq, serving in roles ranging from line medic and clinic NCOIC to platoon sergeant and senior enlisted advisor.
His military service and deployments left lasting physical and mental challenges. After returning home, Kevin made several attempts to seek help through therapy and eventually completed inpatient treatment in 2024. Today, he continues working through PTSD, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and chronic pain while trying to rebuild his health and quality of life.
Kevin’s physical goals are straightforward: reduce pain, improve mobility and regain the ability to handle everyday activities without constantly being limited by his body or shortness of breath. He wants to feel capable in his own body again and regain some of the independence that pain and illness have taken away.
Mentally, Kevin is focused on wellness, confidence and motivation. More than anything, he wants to rediscover the simple desire to participate in life and feel like a member of society again. At ReDefine, he hopes to find the tools, community and momentum to move forward, physically and mentally, and build a healthier version of himself.
