Injury: Above Knee Amputee

_HAC0229 (1)

Originally from Orange County, CA, Mo is married with one child and has lived in Mesquite, TX since 2003. He’s a lover of music and all things football and basketball, being a former basketball player himself. Being a former athlete, his injury was especially difficult for him.

Mo was injured in a head on collision on January 5th, 2018, suffering 3rd degree burns to 40% of his body and an above knee amputation on his left leg.

While seeing his prosthetist, member of the ATF tribe Rachel Minor told him about ATF and told him he’d be the perfect candidate for the program. Mo wanted to apply then and there, but had to wait for clearance from his doctors. As soon as they gave him the “ok,” he participated in February’s Sweatiest Hour and even though he was out of shape, he knew this was where he was supposed to be. He applied for the next class.

His goals for the 9 weeks were to be able to walk again, lose weight, and gain independence. Just going to Sweatiest Hour gave him the drive to change the way he just gets into his car. No more going through the back door; he started going through the front door like he used to.

ATF is Mo’s chance to regain his strength, endurance, independence, and confidence. He’s not going to take that opportunity lightly.
