Injury: Neurological - Nerve Damage
Nathan was born and raised in Poway, a small town in the San Diego area. As a kid he spent his time outdoors; biking, hiking, camping, and shooting. After graduating high school in 2005, Nathan went on to pursue a degree in Human Development.
At the age of 19, Nathan enlisted in the Army and became an emergency room technician with a specialty in trauma. During his service, Nathan was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq where he was involved in a vehicle bombing and excessive firefights. His service took a toll on his body, including breaking his back and damaging the nerves in his lower extremities. As a result of these injuries, he was medically discharged in 2012.
Nathan has spent the past 10 years in and out of therapy, looking to heal from both his physically and mental wounds. At ATF, Nathan wants to continue on his journey of healing along with gaining a community of support around him, as him and his family recently moved down to the Dallas area.
