PATHOLOGY: Traumatic Brain Injury
Nic Beuke grew up in Stephenville, Texas, where sports were a big part of his life. He carried that active mindset into adulthood and eventually into the Air Force, where he served from 2008 to 2012. His military experience took him overseas, including time in deployments, experiences he describes as meaningful despite his service ending sooner than he would have liked.
In 2009, Nic was injured when a mortar landed dangerously close to him while he was deployed in Balad, Iraq. The years since have been a journey of figuring things out physically and mentally. While recovery has involved plenty of ups and downs, Nic has found some grounding along the way and continues to work toward becoming a better version of himself.
Today, Nic is focused on growth. He wants to feel better about his body, become healthier and continue developing into the person he wants to be, not just for himself, but for the people around him. He comes to ReDefine with an honest mindset and a willingness to keep doing the work, even while he’s still figuring out exactly what comes next.
