PATHOLOGY: Traumatic Brain Injury
Otto is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, where he grew up playing basketball, although he loved many sports. Music was also a big influence in his life. After earning his GED in 2003, Otto attended Ivy Tech Community College.
In October 2020, Otto was a pedestrian when he was hit by two vehicles. The first vehicle caused an initial impact and the second ran him over. Otto was declared dead at the scene and after attempts to resuscitate him, he was revived. The majority of his trauma impacted his right side, leading to a traumatic brain injury as well as hardware in his right hip, chest, and arm.
After a year and a half of recovery, Otto has gone from wheelchair to walking with a cane, and he’s also improved his speech post-injury. Although he’s come a long way, Otto has big personal goals for himself.
During his time at ATF, he hopes to gain strength, stamina, mobility, and balance to better his overall health and enjoy life to the fullest. Additionally, he seeks to grow mentally through refocusing and prioritizing his life with an optimistic outlook. He believes in the power of faith, self-improvement, and surrounding himself with positive influences to overcome any obstacle.
