PATHOLOGY: Through Knee Amputee

Prince Mahboubian

A lifelong athlete from Los Angeles who grew up swimming, diving, and playing football, Prince Mahboubian was training for a lifeguard position when tragedy struck. On August 5, 2017, a wrong-way driver on Topanga Canyon Boulevard collided head-on with his motorcycle. He woke up days later from coma and later faced a life-or-death decision. On September 30, 2017, surgeons amputated his left leg through the knee and he suffered a hemorrhagic stroke.

Recovery tested every part of him - body, mind, and spirit. Prince rebuilt himself through faith, love, patience, and relentless perseverance.

In late 2020, during COVID, his Tri Club teammates pulled him into paratriathlon, reigniting the competitive fire he’d always known. Now entering the Adaptive Training Foundation’s Hyper program, Prince is laser-focused on becoming the best para-athlete he can be and earning a spot on the LA28 Paralympic podium in his hometown.
