Injury: T12 Incomplete SCI
Quyen describes himself as a fighter. From Vietnam, he’s an athlete, a runner. He also enjoys cooking and long drives in his classic style Porsche.
On December 20th, 2019, Quyen was in a car accident that left him with an incomplete spinal cord injury, which left him unable to walk. Being in a wheelchair took away his greatest passion in life and his therapy, running, in addition to being able to drive his car.
Quyen started physical therapy at Baylor soon after his accident and soon heard about ATF. He decided to come to visit on his own and soon after applied. Quyen came to ATF with the goal of getting out of his wheelchair, whether that was standing, walking, or running again. His goals aren’t just physical, though; he also has the mental goal of gaining patience because he knows that getting out of his wheelchair is also a mental battle. He wants to regain his strength so he can have his old life back: running, going on long walks, and getting behind the wheel of his Porsche once again.
