PATHOLOGY: Traumatic Brain Injury

Rosa Harvey

Rosa grew up in Newburgh, NY, and enjoyed kayaking, golfing, wood working, and other similar activities. Music was a big part of her childhood and she went to many concerts as well. Directly after she graduated high school in 1995, Rosa enlisted in the Army.

During her service, she began working on Apache helicopters, but excelled quickly and at her 10 year mark, she became a Warrant Officer for Aviation Maintenance. She had four combat tours during both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The accumulation from years of service and deployments, including toxic exposures, took a toll on her both physically and mentally. Her anxiety and PTS went unmanaged for years and ultimately caught up to her post-service. Since then, she’s been in a long process of healing from trauma, both inside and out.

One of her biggest goals to date is to run a mile without stopping, something that doctors told her that she would never be able to do again. She also wants to spend the ReDefine program bettering her self-talk and quieting her inner critic as she focuses on being the best version of herself.
