Meet Adaptive Athlete: Ruben Vazquez

Ruben enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1999 and worked the first four years as a radio operator before moving to logistics and equipment management. His 22 years of service was spent doing heavy lifting and lots of miles. He was deployed multiple times to both Iraq and Afghanistan and although he loved serving, his body took the toll.

 

Although he still lives with daily pain, Ruben is set on running in the Marine Corps Marathon. Not only does he want to prepare for the race, he is also looking to elevate himself and add more tools to his toolbox when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle.
