DOI: August 12th, 2006

Injury: T12-L1 Spinal Cord Injury

Class 25 Ryan Kempker

Ryan had a very active childhood growing up in Eugene, Missouri. He did traditional school sports like baseball and basketball, but also enjoyed outdoor activities like boating, bow fishing, and dirt biking. He finished high school in 2002 and went on to get his Associate's and Bachelor's degrees.

When he was 22 years old, Ryan was a passenger in a car accident. He was instantly paralyzed from the waist down in the wreck. Today, Ryan lives on a small farm that has very little accessibility for a wheelchair user, but he has found different ways to adapt and problem-solve.

Ryan believes that he has a reason to keep pushing forward, no matter what life throws at him. He wants to spend his time at ATF continuing to find his strengths, but also work toward regaining strength and mobility in his legs and with the goal of walking with leg braces.
