Injury: Neurological - Nerve Damage
Sal grew up in Irving, Texas and loved both football and the outdoors, especially fishing. After high school, he joined the Navy and served from 2000 to 2005 where he boxed for the all-Navy team. After that, Sal made the switch over to the Army National Guard.
Sal served a total of 18 years and in the latter half of his career, Sal was combat deployed. While on deployment, he experienced severe nerve damage which resulted in a two and a half month hospitalization in 2013. Sal was unable to walk and it affected his entire body, including his speech. Sal was prescribed medications and steroids to manage pain, but it has caused him to gain weight as a result.
As someone who isn’t afraid of hard work, Sal is geared up and ready to go. He is looking forward to putting in sweat equity and pushing himself beyond his limits. As a husband and dad of four, Sal’s motivation is his family and he is excited for the opportunity to grow for himself and for his family.
