Samantha Allen

Sam Allen grew up in McKinney, Texas, where volleyball became one of the biggest parts of her life. She loved the camaraderie and sense of belonging that came from being part of a team, and athletics quickly became a core part of her identity. After high school, she attended college before eventually pursuing a different path and becoming a certified personal trainer.

In August of 2019, Sam was involved in a devastating ATV accident that left her with extensive injuries, including fractures to her humerus, pelvis, and L1-L5 vertebrae. She continues to deal with nerve damage in her left arm, both quadriceps, and lower back, along with intermittent chest pain that can make breathing difficult. Despite the severity of her injuries, Sam attacked her physical recovery with determination and was back to training within a year of leaving the hospital.

In the immediate aftermath of the accident, Sam leaned into gratitude and resilience, focusing so heavily on surviving and recovering that she pushed much of the emotional impact aside. While she has worked hard not to let her injuries define her physically, she is now beginning to process the deeper mental and emotional weight of everything she experienced.

Through the ReDefine program, Sam hopes to reconnect with herself and rediscover joy in life. Physically, she wants to become stronger and more athletic while fully appreciating the abilities she still has. Mentally, she is focused on building genuine self-respect, learning to give herself grace, and moving forward with strength instead of seeing herself through the lens of victimhood.
