My name is Shauna Michelle George. I was born in Dallas, Texas on February 17, 1994 to my parents Tim and Sherre George. I had the usual family life growing up, however shortly after my 16th birthday in 2010 I was diagnosed with stage 4 Ewing Sarcoma. The primary tumor was in my right femur, we had also found out that it spread to my lungs and my bring was next so we needed to act quickly. By April we had a game plan and started 1 of 14 rounds of about 4 different chemotherapies. Along with having radiation to my lungs at the end of it. Half way though my chemo in August of 2010 I had my right femur replaced from right above my knee up to my hip joint. After finishing treatment I was NED (no evidence of disease) and thrilled to be in remission. I thought my journey was over, I was so wrong. Around two years later I started to have crippling hip pain and after going to the doctor found out my prosthetic was rubbing against my bone as my cartilage had worn down. The only option was to do a partial hip replacement to relieve the pain. Every thing went well until during my recover I made too far of a twist to my right and my hip dislocated. Since 2012 I have had about 30 dislocations and am currently on my 4th hip replacement to help it not come out so easily. The most recent surgery was in June on 2018 to replace my infected hardware, which ended up being all of it. Since then I have been limited on my movements and actions as I am not currently about to be active. I look forward to ATF helping my grow mentally and physically so I can be my best.
