PATHOLOGY: T6 Spinal Cord Injury

Sophie Coudurier

Born and raised in Reno, NV, Sophie grew up immersed in sports — from ski racing to judo, where her dad served as her coach. She loved the independence, discipline, and drive these activities instilled in her, as well as the rush of competition and being outdoors. In December 2012, at just 14 years old, Sophie sustained an incomplete T6 spinal cord injury while ski racing on the Mt. Rose team, a moment that reshaped but didn’t diminish her passion for athletics.

After her injury, Sophie became a High Fives athlete and has continued pushing herself physically and mentally. Through personal training, CrossFit, and a variety of adaptive sports like sled hockey, tennis, boxing, and wake surfing, she has discovered new ways to challenge her limits and regain strength and function.

Now eight months into her CrossFit journey, Sophie is focused on developing her skills, mindset, and overall athleticism. Her goal is to keep learning new movement patterns, expanding her adaptive sports abilities, and ultimately competing in CrossFit while staying active in as many sports as possible.
