Steve Virrueta

Steve grew up in Allen, Texas, where football helped shape his competitive mindset and love for pushing limits. After graduating high school in 2004, he entered the United States Navy and went on to spend two decades serving in high-performance environments within Naval Special Warfare and EOD communities.

Throughout his military career, Steve worked as a high-risk instructor specializing in airborne operations. Years of service in physically and mentally demanding environments eventually resulted in lasting effects from traumatic brain injury. Since retiring from the Navy in 2024, Steve has been navigating the transition into civilian life while continuing to manage the ongoing impact of TBI.

While recovery remains an ongoing process, Steve has focused on maintaining discipline, self-control, and accountability through the difficult moments that come with healing. After nearly 20 years operating at an elite level, he now finds himself searching for the edge, intensity, and mindset that once defined him.

Through the ReDefine program, Steve hopes to reconnect with the “hunter” mentality that fueled him throughout his career. Physically, he wants to rebuild and redefine his body, while mentally he is focused on sharpening his headspace, managing the effects of TBI, and rediscovering the version of himself that thrives under challenge and purpose.
