PATHOLOGY: T10 Spinal Cord Injury

Class27HeadshotsWIDE-6

Suzanne was raised in Round Rock, Texas, and started gymnastics at a young age. She was a gymnast for 14 years and received a full ride scholarship to the University of Oklahoma. She also was a high school cheerleader for three years.

While still in high school, Suzanne was at gymnastics practice when she attempted to do a double backflip dismount off the uneven bars. She attempted to stop midair after one flip, but ended up on her back with her legs over her head. She broke her back and was instantly paralyzed from the waist down.

Through the past 27 years with a spinal cord injury, Suzanne has become a stronger person. Living for the majority of her life in a wheelchair has taught her there’s nothing that she can’t do. She’s outgoing and fun-loving and enjoys living her life to the fullest.

Currently, Susanne is focused on bettering her overall health. She wants to build strength to continue to maintain her independence as well as reignite her fire to compete. Suzanne has previously completed in half marathons and would love to break out her racing chair again.
