PATHOLOGY: Left Above Knee Amputation from birth defect

Tamar Burr Headshot

Hi my name is Tamar Burr  and I have had 31 surgeries to correct a birth defect, including my above knee amputation in May 2015. For the first year or so of after the amputation I was able to stay pretty active, in shape and strong, and even made it to the Women’s National sled hockey team for the 2016-2017 season. My goal is to be able to cultivate a new sense of being able to stay strong and fit even for those days and weeks I have to be in a wheelchair so that I can make it back to Women’s sled hockey Team USA.   I LOVE playing sled hockey! All worries cease to exist while you’re on the ice, like seriously, cease to exist. My goal is to feel strong and confident that my body can do what I ask of it, including what I ask of it on the ice!
