Meet Adaptive Athlete: Taylor Drucker

Taylor Drucker grew up as an athlete, playing everything from hockey and soccer to basketball, tennis, golf and lacrosse. Sports gave her a competitive outlet and taught her perseverance, teamwork and discipline. She also has a passion for volunteering, learning and helping others.

 

In March 2025, Taylor was struck by a truck while crossing the road in Houston. She suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, multiple brain bleeds and a fractured skull, requiring emergency brain surgery. Her recovery has involved extensive physical and speech therapy as she worked to regain her independence, strength and confidence.

 

As a marathon runner and former yoga instructor, losing her physical abilities was especially difficult. Taylor is now focused on rebuilding her strength, mobility and body awareness while gradually working toward running again. She wants to challenge the limits that have become her new comfort zone and learn to trust her body again.

 

Just as important, Taylor wants to find community. Her recovery has often felt isolating, and she hopes ReDefine will surround her with people who understand the journey. She wants to become more confident, grounded and resilient while learning to push herself without comparing her progress to anyone else's.
